Accreditation Ultrasound Phantom for Geometric Accuracy - CIRS 552
Essential Component of the Annual Survey
Accreditation programs require ultrasound system performance be evaluated at least annually. The performance evaluation includes assessment of Image Uniformity, Geometric Accuracy and System Sensitivity. These tests must be made using an ultrasound phantom1.
The CIRS Model 552, Accreditation Phantom for Geometric Accuracy, is used to verify geometric accuracy in the vertical and horizontal directions and system sensitivity on most transducers. It may also be used to evaluate image uniformity of linear transducers.
The phantom is constructed of Zerdine, a durable, reliable and accurate tissue-mimicking material. Wire targets are embedded in a single column for vertical distance measurements and two rows for horizontal distance measurements at 3 cm and 6 cm depths. Near field targets allow vertical and horizontal measurements for very high-frequency tranducers. The Model 552 may be ordered with a soft-sided endocavity wall or a standard water well and comes with a 48-month warranty.
Paired with the Model 551, Accreditation Phantom for Uniformity, the Geometric Accuracy Phantom offers a complete solution for establishing a quality control program as mandated by the ACR Ultrasound Accreditation Program.
